3 Reasons You Need a Wedding Wellness Coach

To my dear bride reading this – congratulations on your big day! I love love and weddings and I cannot wait for you to celebrate!

Many of us dream about this special day and it’s usually one of the biggest days of our entire lives! I want you to go into that day looking and feeling your absolute best! But, there’s so much to do and plan that sometimes all that stress can overshadow what is supposed to be an exciting, cheerful time and can turn into a headache and a half.

It sounds counterintuitive to enjoy your stress, but it can be done! Often, when we have so much going on our wellness can be thrown by the wayside. However, I find that the way to enjoy a busy time is to make sure you’re not running yourself ragged and you’re prioritizing your wellness. In fact, it’s critical to not neglect your wellness to help you get through!

If you’ve already put your wellness as an afterthought on your to-do list to take care of once engagement photos are taken and the save the dates are sent, the following are my top 3 reasons you need a wellness coach to help you get ready for your wedding!

Top 3 Reasons You Need a Wedding Wellness Coach

One Less Thing on Your Plate

No matter the size of your wedding, I always hear from my brides that there is so much that goes into planning a wedding! Invitations, flowers, food, music, venues, the dress, the list goes on and on. You’re also likely a working girl. If you haven't already, you probably still need to shop for your bachelorette/bridal shower/engagement photo outfits. You may even need to plan and attend all your celebrations and events leading up to the wedding…there’s just so much to do and not enough time!

In the midst of all of that, if I could venture a guess, you probably don’t have time to research and evaluate the most effective way to keep yourself well during one of the busiest seasons of your life!

Sure you think you have a general idea of the basics to keep yourself well. But what if you could check in with an expert of wellness to make sure all your precious time, resources, and efforts are being optimized and effectively used? Best of all, what if there was one person you could go to that considered holistic wellness? A one-stop-shop coach that considers your fitness, your nutrition, your sleep, your brain (i.e. mental and emotional) health, your rest and recovery. All the pieces fit together and intertwine when it comes to your wellness and you want someone that does it all!

It’s like when your wedding venue has pre-made packages that include the flowers, decor, etc. and you don’t have to outsource each facet to different teams. Apply this to your wellness coach instead of hiring a trainer, a nutrition coach, a sleep coach, a stress coach, etc.

Someone Who Gives You Permission to Prioritize Your Wellness, Is an Accountability Partner, & Cheerleader

I found that when I’m working with my clients, what they appreciate most about working with me is that I give them permission to make sure they’re prioritizing their wellness as much as they’re prioritizing the guest list. I don’t only give them permission, but I give them direction on how to prioritize their wellness AND I hold them accountable to make sure they actually stick with it and do it!

You know when you’re trying to keep it together and someone asks you “how are you, really?” and you just feel like you can barely resist the urge to unravel? In our sessions, whether you’re flying high and crushing things or drowning in chaos, I want to know not only how you are but what we’re doing about it. From there, we’ll come up with the next best steps until our next meeting to make sure we are thriving and not merely surviving.

Efficient Way to Wellness, Where to Focus Your Efforts and Energy

I alluded to this above, but I explicitly want to call out that the science you think you know may be antiquated and outdated. Scientists have been advancing and we’ve got updates.

For the most part, we’ve agreed that the most efficient way to get in shape is not by becoming a cardio bunny! Hours and hours of cardio may seem effective, but if you want a certain shape it may not be the way to go. It also can be super draining, and taxing on your body, especially if you aren’t recovering properly, which can have a host of negative outcomes and further deplete your resources.

When it comes to your nutrition, we know that in food deserts where it’s mostly convenience store (i.e. junk) food and limited fresh, organic produce, that you can lose weight by limiting your calories. However, it’s not ideal because you could be introducing harmful chemicals to your system and burdening your liver as well as missing out on key nutrients you need that will help you feel and look your best!

The same can be said for your rest (including sleep), your recovery, your stress management techniques, and more! The bottom line is that I don’t want you implementing a wellness regimen based on outdated or non-scientifically backed information! Not all of these social media trends have real substance or scientific backing behind them! When it comes to your health and wellness, please don’t follow trends blindly! Seek science backed information from professionals that have degrees, licenses, and certifications in this field!
